Microsoft Automatic updates resets dial-up connectivity settings to zero, the MS default, causing immediate disconnects... If a customer has to "dial-in repeatedely" please check the following:

In the Control Panel: Internet Options: Connection Click on nccn, click on Settings. At the bottom, next to the user name click on Advanced.

The advanced settings should be set to: Try to connect: 10 times Wait 5 seconds between tries. Both the disconnect if idle and Disconnect if no longer needed MUST be unchecked.

For Thunderbird users: Make sure the timeout in the account options is set to more than 0 seconds, we recommend 60.
